New Bremen wins regional title

SIDNEY — Warm or cold, New Bremen keeps moving on.

Back in late August, the Cardinals went to Sidney and defeated Lehman Catholic 41-0.

On Saturday night, they returned to the same field and topped Fort Loramie 24-0 in the Region 28 championship of the Division VII football bracket.

New Bremen stuck with the combo of David Homan and Hunter Schaefer to move the ball in the brutally cold and snowy conditions.

They were able to keep Fort Loramie from getting its passing game going, and earned their first shutout since that win over Lehman.

New Bremen is now 11-3 on the season. Next up is the state semifinal on Saturday against Lima Central Catholic (10-4). The game will be played at Harmon Stadium in Wapakoneta, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
