Weekend Round-Up: Minster CC, boys golf win invitationals

COLUMBUS GROVE — The Minster girls cross country team easily won the girls gray division title at the Columbus Grove Invitational on Saturday morning, while the Wildcat boys team  finished second.

Minster's Julia Slonkosky continued the strong start to her freshman season with a win in the gray division race with a 19:46.34 time.

Columbus Grove won the boys gray division with 44 points. Minster finished second with 55 points. Minster’s Dominic Slonkosky finished second with a 16:23 time, trailing only Columbus Grove’s Jake Graham (16:11.23).


MINSTER WINS VERSAILLES INVITE: The Minster boys golf team captured the Versailles Invitational title with a 322 team score on Saturday at Stillwater Golf Club. The Wildcats beat Russia by seven strokes. Parkway took third with a 336, Versailles was fourth with a 341 and New Bremen finished fifth with a 345. Minster had two players in the top five individual scores. Xavier Francis shot a 77 and Josh Tumbusch had a 78 to lead the Wildcats.  Darin Bergman paced New Bremen with an 82.


NEW KNOXVILLE 8, FAIRLAWN 2: Goncalo Branco scored four goals, Andrew Mackie added a pair of goals and an assist and the New Knoxville boys soccer team coasted to an 8-2 win at Fairlawn on Saturday morning. Isaiah Oeding and Chase Naviello added goals for New Knoxville. Ranger keeper Dean Frankenberg made five saves on nine Fairlawn shots.
