Walter H. Frey, 85

Walter H. Frey, 85, of 117 S. Main St. Osgood, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at his home.

He was born on July 29, 1928, in Mercer County to the late Joseph and Cecilia (Bruening) Frey. He married Bernice Homan on Aug.  7, 1954, in St. Anthony. She survives in Osgood.

He is also survived by children: Robert and Kathleen Frey, Versailles, Carol and Duane Heinfeld, Maria Stein, Roger and Carol Frey, Versailles, Paul and Karen Frey, New Bremen, Thomas and Brenda Frey, Houston, Ohio, Ronald and Pamela Frey, Fort Loramie, Kay and Michael Woods, Jacksonville, N.C., 27 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters, Marian and Walter Braun, St. Rose, Marilyn Homan, Coldwater and Alberta and Willard Bruns, St. Sebastian, in-laws, Bernadette Frey, Dayton, Herbert Hoying, Sidney, Juliana Frey, Ft. Loramie, Cyril Overman, Maria Stein, Joan and Jim Pleiman, Cassella, Mary Ann Young, Huntington, Ind., Pat Homan, Lima. 

He was preceded in death by son Mark Frey, son-in-law Richard Seitz, grandson Dustin Frey, brothers, sisters & in-laws, Ralph & Esther Frey, Alvin Frey, Vernon Frey, Dorothy Hoying, Elizabeth Overman & Donald Homan. 

He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, Ohio. He also was a member of the Men’s Society of the Church and he sang in the church choir for 50 years.  He belonged to F.O.E. #1391 Minster and was past president, a member of K of C 1756 Versailles and past Grand Knight, Mayor and council member of Osgood. He was a member of the Osgood Fire department and the Osgood Rescue Squad.  He worked at the Osgood Elevator & Minster Canning Factory. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood with Rev. David Zink, celebrant. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery, Osgood.  Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Osgood Fire Department, Osgood Rescue Squad and State of the Heart Hospice. Condolences may be made at
