Roughriders Cross Country Heads To Regional

Roughriders cross country runner Matt Jutte will head to Tiffin for the Division II regional competition on Saturday as an individual after finishing in the top 16 overall.

The St. Marys Roughriders varsity girls cross country team advanced to regional competition after finishing third place at the Division II district cross country race in Ottawa on Saturday.

In addition to the girls team, Matt Jutte is also heading to regional as an individual with his 11th place overall finish.

The girls team was led by Kelly Wilker. The first-team All-Western Buckeye League and WBL champion junior took third overall Saturday with a time of 19:44.1. Another first-team All-WBL runner in Morgan Henschen with her 12th place and time of 20:43.1 also helped the Riders on Saturday.

Laura Donovan finished with a time of 21:54 (22nd), Laura Wilker took 23rd with a time of 21:55, and Madi Fast had a personal best time of 22:47, best for 40th place.

Rochelle Sudman (24:42.3, 63rd) and Lindi Cisco (25:17.5, 69th) also competed for the Riders on Saturday. 

Jutte, the Roughriders’ All-WBL boys runner, led the way for the Rider boys with a time of 17:31. The 11th place finish helped him advance to the regional round with the boys team not making it after finishing ninth place as a team. Dominic Brown took 23rd overall with a time of 18:12, Forry Baldwin finished with a time of 19:25, best for 53rd, Micheal Jaros finished in 57th with a time of 19:36 and Calen Fledderjohann took 89th with a time of 23:32. 
The Roughriders will head to Tiffin Saturday for the right to head to state in the regional round.
