Riders Improve To 4-0 on Taylor's Big Night

The St. Marys Roughriders girls’ basketball team improved to 4-0 overall after a 65-49 non-league victory against Lima Central on Tuesday.

The Roughriders jumped on the Thunderbirds with a 20-8 first quarter lead with all of their points but five coming from Shania Taylor (15 points).

LCC closed the gap in the second quarter with a 20-12 advantage to trail 32-28 at the half.

But the Roughriders outscored the T-birds 33-16 in the second half, led by Taylor’s 13 second-half points to give her a game-high 30 points on the night.

St. Marys’ defense shut down LCC, allowing just six points in the fourth quarter.

Makenna Mele scored 12 points and Quincy Rable tallied 10.

Sydney Cisco scored six points, Clare Caywood recorded three points, while Makayla Koch and Lauren Cisco both scored two points.

The Roughriders face a showdown with another unbeaten team in Ottawa-Glandorf at home on Thursday in a Western Buckeye League opener.
