The St. Marys Roughriders girls soccer team might have ended their match with rival Celina with a tie, but they got a win somewhere else in the Western Buckeye League.

With the tie giving St. Marys a two-point lead against second-place Shawnee, that lead stayed the same when the Indians lost to Elida 4-2 on Monday.

The Shawnee loss is a win for the Roughriders and the tie keeps them at the top spot with two league games remaining.

Defiance and Shawnee, both teams that the Roughriders tied against earlier this year, are three and two games back, respectively.

If both teams win out and the Roughriders win out their two remaining games, all three teams would be tied at 19 points, giving each team at least a share of the WBL title.

In other words, the Roughriders control their own destiny.
