New signs are going up around Grand Lake St. Marys warning visitors about an illness believed to be related to a harmful algal bloom.
Ohio State Parks Southwest District Manager Brian Miller confirmed to The Evening Leader the new signs were ordered up today. The signs read: "The Ohio Department of Health is aware of at least one harmful algal bloom related illness that occurred on the lake this season. Swimming and wading are not recommeded." The signs will be posted at the beaches and boat ramps around the lake. Miller said the lake is not under a no contact advisory at this time.
