It will be a state Route 66 district championship game on Thursday in Division IV action at Van Wert High School.

On Tuesday the New Bremen Cardinals took care of Ottoville in three sets 25-11, 25-20, 25-20, but the Minster Wildcats needed all five sets to defeat the Marion Local Flyers 25-13, 17-25, 10-25, 25-16, 15-11.

The Cardinals will face the Wildcats at 6 p.m.

In the second match, Minster (16-8) used an 8-2 run midway through the fifth set to beat the Flyers 15-11.

After a pair of side-outs to begin the fifth set, Minster's Hayley Baumer served two points to give the Wildcats the two-point cushion they needed. Paige Purdy added three points prompting Marion Local to call timeout.

Following the timeout, the Flyers got on a run of their own with four straight serves from Maddie Griesdorn to close the score to 11-10. After a Minster timeout, the Wildcats regained the serve when Rosie Westerbeck served the Wildcats to victory on a kill from Jordyn Heitbrink.

In the earlier match, Paige Jones got the New Bremen Cardinals (21-3) off to a great start as she served the first 11 points in the first set. After an exchange of points, the Cardinals closed out the set with a pair of serves from Madison Pape, a serve from Jones and a pair of serves from Macy Puthoff before winning the set on a kill from Jones 25-11.
