A pair of former Grand Lake Mariners were drafted this past week in the Major League Baseball rookie draft.

Nick Roscetti, last season’s shortstop for the Mariners, was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers as the 771st overall pick in the 26th round from Iowa and Mitch Roman, who played for Grand Lake in 2014, was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 12th round with the 356th overall pick from Wright State University.

The 22-year-old, Sherman, Ill. native Roscetti was a 2015 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star for the Mariners in 31 games played. He batted .369 with two home runs and 24 RBIs.

A Fishers, Ind. native, Roman will not have to travel far in joining the White Sox. With the Mariners, Roman batted .243 with 12 RBIs.
