Man Pulled From River

A Wapakoneta man was pulled from the Auglaize River Friday night.
According to a report from the Wapakoneta Police Department, officers responded to the Blackhoof Street bridge above the Auglaize River at 9:22 p.m. Friday on a report of a man in a wheelchair on the bridge who was reportedly tying something to the railing.
An officer approached the man and he then pulled himself over the railing and into the river. Officers went into the river and were able to bring the man to safety.
The 51-year-old man was transported to St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima for evaluation by members of the Wapakoneta Rescue Squad. The incident remains under investigation and a report is expected to be forwarded to the Auglaize County Prosecuting Attorney's Office when completed.
The Auglaize County Sheriff's Office and the Wapakoneta Fire Department water rescue squad assisted at the scene.
