Former Coldwater resident Zeno E. ‘Sam’ Schoenlein, 93, died on Friday, July 5, 2013, at Otterbein Living Center in St. Marys, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born on March 3, 1920, in St. Peter, to the late Peter and Veronica (Braun) Schoenlein.
On July 31, 1948, he married Dorothy (Fortman) in St. Anthony, and she died on Oct. 14, 2004.
He is survived by children, Kathleen Shepherd of Lilburn, Ga., David and Karen Schoenlein of Medina, Robert and Brenda Schoenlein of St. Henry, Margory and Rick Curry of Milford, Steve and Kathy Schoenlein of Dayton and Carol and Bob Schwieterman of Castle Rock, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother; three sisters-in-law.
He is preceded in death by six siblings; 12 in-laws.
Zeno served in the U.S. Army Air Corp’s 19th repair squadron during World War II.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater.
Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coldwater.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Coldwater from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday.
