Nate Moore's run as head football coach at Minster High School was short but sweet. It ended when Moore accepted the head coaching position at Cincinnati La Salle High School on Tuesday night.
Moore is the ninth head coach in La Salle history, according to a La Salle press release.
“I am ready to lead Lancer football to its next level of success and cannot wait to get back to Cincinnati, immerse myself in the La Salle community and get to know the players and families that make La Salle one of the premier high schools in the State of Ohio,” Moore said in the release.
La Salle, a member of the Greater Catholic League and a Division I school, went 4-6 last season. But the program is just three years removed from a 2010 playoff appearance. LaSalle has playoff berths in 2010, 2004, 2003 and 1985. LaSalle is 0-4 all-time in playoff games.
Moore leaves Minster after compiling a 25-13 record, with playoff appearances in all three seasons. He led Minster to a 5-3 record in the postseason.
Moore's effect at Minster was immediate, as the team went from 0-10 in 2009 to 7-6 in 2010. That included a playoff berth and playoff upset wins over Springfield Catholic Central and Marion Local before bowing out at the regional final level against Lehman Catholic.
In 2011 Moore was named the Division VI Co-Coach of the Year in Ohio after leading Minster to a 9-4 record and another playoff appearance. The Wildcats beat Springfield Catholic Central and Fort Loramie in the playoffs before losing to Marion Local in the regional finals. He also coached linebacker Daniel Gusching as he was named the Division VI Defensive Player of the Year.
Moore's final season was another successful one, as Minster went 9-3 with a 6-2 record in Midwest Athletic Conference play. The Wildcats trounced Tri-County North in the first round of the playoffs before eventual state champion Marion Local outlasted the Wildcats, 41-34, in a regional semifinal game at Wapakoneta this past fall.
Moore was an offensive assistant at Hamilton and Chaminade Julienne prior to his time in Auglaize County.
Moore was an offensive tackle at the University of Dayton and played at Mason High School.
