James “Jim” Brent Parker of Hazel Green, 68, went peacefully to be with the Lord and loved ones in heaven on Feb. 21, 2013.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1944 in Celina to the late Bernie “B.L.” Parker and Nelma Jane Parker. His mother now resides in Mount Cory.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Janie; and three sons, Jon, Cory, and Matt. Other survivors include his brother, Jack; three sisters, Jill Snow, Joan Montgomery, and Janie Lynch; brother-in-law, John Taylor; daughter-in-law, Sheelah Parker; two granddaughters, Willow and Phoebe; fourteen nieces and nephews; and his dachshund “baby loves,” Hershey and Rebel.
He graduated from Memorial High School and was a veteran of the Air Force. He followed in his father’s footsteps in the car business for many years as well as being an entrepreneur in a variety of small businesses.
Jim Parker did whatever it took to provide for his family. Even after all the years residing in SEC country, Jim remained a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye.
Visitation was Feb. 24 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. The funeral was at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Berryhill Funeral Home with burial following at Valley View Cemetery.
Due to Jim’s great love of children and desire that no one ever go hungry, in lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Children First, First United Methodist Church, 120 Greene St., Huntsville, AL 35801.
This ministry asks you to please include a note with your donation indicating “in memory of Jim Parker.”
