BOWLING GREEN — St. Marys junior Jared Deubler had a pair of top eight finishes — including a second-place finish — as an individual to highlight the St. Marys swim team’s day in the pool at the Division II district meet at Bowling Green State University on Friday.
Deubler took second in the boys 100 backstroke. Deubler finished in 54.63 seconds. Deubler also finished eighth in the boys 100 freestyle with a 49.47-second time.
The Roughrider 200 medley relay team of Deubler, Matt Hollman, Dakota Braun and Noah Hartsock finished sixth in the final with a 1:42.58 time.
St. Marys senior Matt Hollman took 11th in the boys 100 breaststroke with a 1:04.19 time. The Riders’ Jon Krebs, a sophomore, was 28th in the race with a 1:10.88 time. Hollman was also 15th in the boys 200 individual medley with a 2:11.33 pace.
Roughrider junior Dakota Braun took 20th in the boys 100 butterfly with a 58.93-second time.
St. Marys’ 400 free relay medley team of Deubler, Braun, Noah Harsock and Hollman finshed 13th with a 3:28.85 time.
St. Marys sophomore Molly Menker finished sixth in the girls 200 freestyle with a 2:00.59 time.
St. Marys freshman Sierra Braun took 14th in the girls 100 butterfly final with a 1:05.1 time, and Braun took 16th in the girls 200 individual medley (2:26.93).
Minster’ Nikki Borgerding finished sixth in the in the girls 200 individual medley with a 2:18.79 finishing time.
The Minster girls 200 free relay team of Kara Kitzmiller, Leah Niekamp, Erica Oldiges and Nikki Borgerding finished 18th (1:49.01), while the St. Marys relay team of Sierra Braun, Jazmine Mines, Courtney Steele and Molley Menker was 19th (1:49.28).
The Minster girls 200 medley relay team of Kitzmiller, Borgerding, Cassie Jutte and Niekamp finished 10th (1:59.91) while the St. Marys relay team of Braun, Megan Hertenstein, Menker and Steele took 20th (2:05.64).
St. Marys sophomore Madison Taylor already punched her ticket to the state meet in Canton on Wednesday night girls one-meter diving competition by finishing second.
Riders 7th at sectional bowling meet
MINSTER — The St. Marys boys bowling team finished seventh at the OHSAA sectional bowling meet at Minster’s Community Lanes on Friday.
Coldwater (4035 pins), St. Henry, Wapakoneta, O-G and Lima Central Catholic all advanced in the tournament with top five finishes.
The Roughriders’ 3379 team score put them two spots out of the top five finish needed to advance in the tournament.
Tyler Parent led the Roughriders with a 488 series to finish 24th overall individually. Codie Deaton bowled a 482. Travis Bonifas added a 348.
Minster finished eighth as a team with a 3347 team score.
Minster’s Fred Purdy was 16th overall with a 510 series and advances to the district competition as an individual.
New Bremen took 10th with a 3155 team score.
New Bremen’s Austin Webb, who bowled a 500 series and finished 18th overall, will also be advancing to district as an individual.
The girls sectional will be contested at Minster’s Community Lanes on Saturday.
