Clarence B. Tuente, 84, of 7834 Overman Road in Maria Stein, died on Jan. 4, 2013, at his home.
He was born on March 30, 1928, in Maria Stein to the late Henry and Agatha (Riethman) Tuente.
He married Dorothy K. Kuess on Sept. 2, 1950, in St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and she preceded him in death on May 20, 1995.
He is survived by daughters Kathy and Wayne Gruebmeyer of New Bremen, Elaine and Werner Heckman of Maria Stein and Karen and Richard Scott of Maria Stein; special friend Yolanda Schmiesing of New Bremen and her family; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Irene Evers of St. Henry; in-laws Betty and Aloys Jutte of Osgood, Mildred and Edwin Prenger of Coldwater, Ernest and Gladys Kuess of Coldwater, Elmer Kuess of Celina, Esther Kuess of Chickasaw, Delores Muhlenkamp of Portland, Ind., Irene and Paul Heckman of Delhart, Texas. He was preceded in death by brother Walter Tuente; in-laws Henry Evers, Lavern Kuess, Irma Kuess and Alvin Muhlenkamp.
He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose, a member of the Men’s Sodality of the Church.
He was past president of the Knights of St. John in Maria Stein, past president of the New Bremen Senior Citizens and a member of Minster F.O.E. 1391. He was a lifelong farmer and a school bus driver for Marion Local Schools.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose Catholic Church, the Rev. Thomas Brenberger, celebrant. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will take place in St. Rose Cemetery.
