Richard P. Crouse, 88, of 930 Hager St., St. Marys, died at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in St. Marys.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1923, in Dayton, the son of Albert and Olivia (Balyeat) Crouse, and they preceded him in death.
On July 18, 1943, he married Marian Abbott, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by two children, Janet Schmidt of St. Marys and Larry (Penny) Crouse of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Susan (Rich) Spencer of St. Marys, Theresa (Steven) Ogier of Sanford, Fla., DeWayne Walker of St. Marys and Denise (Bill) Jones of Chicago; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jaywilva Craft of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Crouse; two sisters, Freda Becker and Marcella Schroer; two sons-in-law, Ed Walker and Wally Schmidt.
Richard was a 1941 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St. Marys. He later served as a volunteer at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, and he enjoyed bird watching and taking rides by Grand Lake St. Marys to look for cranes.
Graveside burial rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, with the Rev. David Williams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Grand Lake Hospice.
