ST. MARYS — A school trip to Washington, D.C. that was canceled because of Hurricane Sandy is back on.
St. Marys Superintendent Shawn Brown told The Evening Leader he received notification from K&K Tours that the eighth-grade trip will be rescheduled for a later date. The trip was canceled on Monday because of the impending storm — which caused massive devastation along the eastern seaboard.
"We met with the eighth-grade students and sent a letter home to their parents," Brown said. "There was a shout of joy and big, big smiles, which were nice to see after the last couple of days."
An exact date for the trip remains unknown at this time. Officials from K&K Tours are slated to appear for a meeting with parents and school officials to hammer out specifics in the near future.
