Donald “Romie” Frilling, 79, of 211 N. Eastern Ave., St. Henry, on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
He was born on March 7, 1933, in Fort Loramie, to William and Amelia (Luthman) Frilling, and they preceded him in death.
On Oct. 8, 1955, in Osgood, he married Mildred (Hoelscher), and she survives in St. Henry.
Romie is survived by six children, Jeff (Donna) Frilling of Maria Stein, Tony (Jayne) Frilling of Columbus, Paula (Kirt) Schritz of Coldwater, Jay (Beth) Frilling of Coldwater, Gail (Bob) Welling of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Sarah (Doug) Gels of Columbus; 12 grandchilden; one great-grandchild; a brother, Robert Frilling of Anna.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers; three sisters.
He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, the Ohio Progressive Sportsmans Club in Sharpsburg, the St. Henry American Legion and a former member of the St. Henry Fire Dept and Rescue Squad. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Romie worked for CW Service in Coldwater and recently for C.B.S. Automotive Supply in Coldwater and Celina.
In keeping with Romie’s wishes, his body will be cremated. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial, with military rites, will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
