Richard Brown, 75, of Celina, died on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born on Feb. 20, 1937, in Decatur, Ill., to Robert and Eleanor (Damery) Brown, and they preceded him in death.
On Nov. 23, 1983, he married Theresa J. Thurman-Orrender, and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Daniel (Ruth) Brown of Aubrey, Texas, and Gary (Sally) Brown of Idaho Springs, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Kimberly (the Rev. David) King of Graham, N.C.; a stepson, Rick (Pamela) King of New Hope, N.C.; a granddaughter, Sarah Brown; three stepgrandchildren; a brother, Russell Brown of St. Marys.
He graduated from Blue Mound, Ill., High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Millikin University in Decatur, Ill.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Mr. Brown retired as plant manager for Wonder Bread Baking Co. in Woodlawn.
He was a licensed amateur radio operator under call sign N8IVB.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Robert Brown will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Windy Point Park on the south shore of Grand Lake St. Marys. The Rev. David King will officiate. Military funeral honors will be conducted at the conclusion of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Lake Hospice program.
