MINSTER — The Minster Wildcats went into Friday’s game wanting to let its skill players shine against Sidney Lehman Catholic at the newly-renovated Minster Memorial Field.
It turned into an air show for the Wildcats in their 46-7 win.
“Our game plan was to kind of give the kids on the outside to show what they can do and they did that,” Minster coach Nate Moore said. “The kids executed the plays that the coaches called. Our receivers caught the ball well and Adam had a nice game throwing the ball and running.”
Two records were broken at the 8:51 mark of the first quarter when Minster quarterback Adam Niemeyer’s94-yard touchdown pass to Troy Kauffman set the all-time career passing record when his 94-yard pass to Troy Kauffman was good for a Wildcats touchdown. It also made set a record for the longest pass from scrimmage in Minster football history.
Niemeyer finished the game 8 of 13 for 248 yards passing.
Korey Schultz finished the game with 96 yards rushing on eight carries.
Minster improved to 2-0 and will start Midwest Athletic Conference action next Friday against New Bremen.
Before the game, Dannon announced a $30,000 donation to Minster athletics for the renovation of Memorial Field.
