Byron “Barney” C. Anderson, 88, formerly of Celina, died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born on June 6, 1923, in Jefferson Township, to Charles and Mary Granger Anderson, and they preceded him in death.
On Nov. 12, 1955, he married Garnet Dalton, and she preceded him in death on May 12, 2011.
He is survived by two sons, Barry (Rita) Anderson of Wapakoneta and Todd (Beth) Anderson of St. Augustine, Fla.; two grandchildren; one stepgrandson; one sister; two sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by two brothers; a sister.
He served in the U.S. Army from September 1944 to Nov. 25, 1945, stationed with the Company B 899th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He served in France and Germany, being awarded the Bronze Service Star and Victory Medal.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina. Burial, with military rites, will be held in Swamp College Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
