Clifford B. Ball, 92, of 510 W. 300 North, Portland, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born on May 2, 1919, in Ellenboro, W.Va., the son of Hugh and Ada (Riggs) Ball, and they preceded him in death.
He married Lena DeChessro, and she preceded him in death in 1966. On April 16, 1967, he married Nancy Houser, and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Clifford James Ball (Sharron) of Celina and David Lee Ball of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Steven (Susan) Dietz of Logan and Mrs. Alan (Lee Ann) Sigler of Logan; a brother, Donald Ball of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a sister, Eva Jean Coe of Parkersburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He retired in 1973 as an ordained Presbyterian minister.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the 19th Division Corp. of Engineers.
He earned his divinity degree from Davis and Elkins College. He was a member the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland, Ind., with Vicar Robert Abner and the Rev. Mark Strietelmeier presiding.
Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
