ROCKFORD — The Minster girls basketball team won its seventh straight game, pummeling Parkway 64-22 in a Midwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday night.
Minster also held an opponent under 30 points for the fifth straight game.
“Of course you always have things that you need to work on, but overall, I thought we got it inside and got high-percentage shots,” said Minster head coach Nann Stechschulte. “I just didn’t want to come out flat and I don’t think they did.”
Tara Clune led Minster with 17 points. Bridget Geiger scored 14 and Kayla Richard added 8.
“Offensively, (31) of the points were from both Bridget and Tara. We wanted to get it inside and were able to do it and they were able to put it in the hole,” said Stechschulte. “When you’re getting high-percentage shots like that, that’s a good thing.”
Haley Burtch led Parkway with 10 points, while Becca Harshman added 6.
Minster led 30-11 at halftime.
“(In the) first half, we wanted to get it inside and (in the) second half, I said we needed to get it out quick and look for transition buckets,” said Stechschulte.
Minster opened the second half on a 7-0 run as Kayla Wuebker scored three baskets in the first 1:45. Sara Dahlinghaus added a free throw and Minster led 37-11 with 6:16 still left in the third quarter.
Minster led 51-20 after three quarters of play.
The Wildcats opened the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run courtesy of two baskets by Clune and two baskets by Geiger.
Minster is now 28-14 all-time against Parkway, with the Lady Panthers’ last win coming during the 1994-95 season.
Minster will travel to Russia on Saturday for a 10 a.m. JV start time.
