Ned A. Glass, 72, of 710 Stoneybrook Drive, St. Marys, died at 6:37 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health System, in the presence of his loving family.
He was born on March 11, 1939, in Noble Township, to Ivan “Mike” and Ruth (Rasneor) Glass, and they preceded him in death.
On Dec. 26, 1959, at St. Peter’s Evangelical & Reformed Church in New Bremen, he married the love of his life, Christine F. Richey, and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, Michael (Jan) Glass of St. Marys; two daughters, Christi Mae (fiance David Leugers) Buehler of St. Marys and Angela L. Glass of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Shane (fiancee Angie Koverman) McCollum, Kristy M. McCollum, Madison (fiance Eddie Whitman) Glass; three great-grandchildren, Wyland, Colton and Adelyn; a sister, Barbara Glass of St. Marys; an uncle, Joseph Henne of Cridersville; two aunts, Fay Rasneor of St. Marys and Myrna Glass (Mrs. Ed) of St. Marys; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; his nieces and nephews; numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Dougie Allen Glass, 5, and Jeffie Allen Glass, 1.5, both died in 1972; a sister, Shirley McEvoy.
He was a 1957 graduate of Memorial High School in St. Marys
He retired from the Ford Motor Co.—Lima Engine Plant, where he worked in machine repair.
He was a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, Free & Accepted Masons Mercer Lodge 121 and Eagles Lodge Aerie 767, all in St. Marys.
He was a gentleman farmer who also enjoyed woodworking and fishing. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he put his family before all else in this world.
A celebration of Ned’s life is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel), St. Marys, with the Rev. Steve Weatherly officiating. Private family burial will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Masonic services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
