St. Marys 7, New Knoxville 0
Behind four goals from Brennan Brown and three assists the St. Marys Roughrider boy’s soccer team defeated a young New Knoxville Ranger squad 7-0 Thursday evening at West Field.
The Riders entertain Temple Christian on Monday with the JV’s playing Piqua, while the Rangers travel to Pandora-Gilboa on Saturday at Noon.
Boys Golf
St. Marys 156, Elida 164
The St. Marys boys golf team attacked a Northmoor course softened by rain the night before, going low in their latest Western Buckeye League win.
A trio of Roughriders broke 40 and St. Marys improved to 2-0 in the Western Buckeye League with a 156-164 win over Elida at Northmoor on Thursday.
Senior Austin Riggs earned medalist honors for the Riders with a one-over par 36.
Along with Riggs’ round, the Riders got a 37 from freshman Carter Bowman and a 38 from senior Will Paulus. Matt Severt added a 47 and Alex Dammeyer shot a 51.
DSJ 161, Minster 161 (DSJ wins tiebreaker)
MINSTER — A match-up of two of the best boys golf programs in the Midwest Athletic Conference came down to a fifth-player tiebreaker. Delphos St. John’s emerged from that tiebreaker with a win over Minster on Thursday night at Arrowhead.
“We played well, they were just a little better tonight,” Minster head coach Dave Borchers said.
Minster and DSJ were tied 161-161 after the top four scores were tabulated. Isaac Klausing’s fifth-best 43 for Delphos St. John’s edged Minster’s 45 from John Burke.
Minster’s Freddie Purdy was match medalist with a 37. Xavier Francis shot a 40, Austin Fischer added a 41, Josh Spieles had a 43 and Matt Wuebker had a 46.
Minster plays New Knoxville at Arrowhead on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Coldwater 189, New Knoxville 195
CELINA — Coldwater downed the New Knoxville boys golf team on Thursdasy night at the Mercer County Elks.
Tyler Shreve paced the Rangers with a 44 to share medalist honors with Coldwater’s Alex Bruggeman. Justin Slaven added a 45. David Boesche shot a 49 and Conner Samuel had a 57.
Along with Bruggeman’s 44, Coldwater received a 46 from Mitch Diller, Travis Goettemoeller shot a 49 and Jordan Diller added a 50.
New Knoxville fell to 1-2 and 0-2 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.
New Bremen 174, St. Henry 176
CELINA — The New Bremen boy’s golf team edged St. Henry in a MAC match on Thursday at the Mercer County Elks.
Darin Bergman of New Bremen earned medalist honors with a 38.
Alex Britton added a 41 and Tyler Nosek shot a 46.
Nate Clune led St. Henry with a 42.
New Bremen improved to 2-1.
Girls Soccer
St. Marys 1, Liberty-Benton 1
FINDLAY — The St. Marys girls soccer team’s trip to findlay ended in a 1-1 tie with Liberty-Benton on Thursday night.
St. Marys’ Courtney Christman scored the Roughriders’ lone goal of the night.
St. Marys moves to 1-0-1 on the young season. The Riders host Kenton next Tuesday night at 5 p.m.
Girls Tennis
St. Marys 5, Elida 0
ELIDA — The St. Marys girls tennis team rolled over Elida 5-0 in its second Western Buckeye League match of the season.
St. Marys’ doubles teams won two-set matches.
St. Marys second doubles team Emily Brown and Priscilla Dodson outlasted C’era Savage and Hailey Hurst, 7-5, 6-2.
At first doubles, Allie Zimmerman and Ariel Dodson defeated Robin Klaus and Erin Kesler, 6-3, 6-4.
St. Marys swept the singles with relative ease.
St. Marys third singles player Katie Peterson won a 6-1, 6-1 match over Lauren Greeley.
Alex Spencer, St. Marys second singles player, downed Abby Orians, 6-0, 6-0.
The Riders’ Mariah Krugh won first singles with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Monica Tieu.
St. Marys improved to 4-0 and 2-0 in the WBL with the win.
