John J. Hinders, 86, of Celina, died at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
He was born on May 30, 1925, in Celina, to Judge Homer J. and Emma Louise (Pax) Hinders, and they preceded him in death.
On Sept. 16, 1950, he married Jean Elaine Reny, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 1964. On April 16, 1966, he married Virginia A. Gabriel, and she survives him.
He is also survived by two sons, Andrew (Henni) Hinders of Celina and Peter (Lana) Hinders of Celina; seven daughters, Margaret Hinders (Tom Zuk) of Hoboken, N.J., Joan (Eric) St. Peter of Bar Harbor, Maine; Elizabeth (Gary) Zoltan of Tallmadge, Mary (Mark) Koenig of Copley, Ann (Tom) Williamson of Fishers, Ind., Julia (Doug) Zehner of Silver Spring, Md., and Christina (Bill) Isaacs of Rochester, Mich.; two brothers; three sisters; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister; a grandchild; a brother-in-law.
He served as a sargeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, with the Rev. Kenneth Schnipke officiating.
