Floyd T. “Tom” Vorhees, 62, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1949, in Lima, to Paul F. and Betty L. Maloney Vorhees, and they preceded him in death.
On July 17, 1965, he married Sandra L. McCandless, who survives him in St. Marys.
He is also survived by three sons, William P. (Ann) Vorhees of Columbus Grove, Floyd Thomas (Kellee) Vorhees Jr. of St. Marys and Norman D. (Shug) Vorhees of Lima; two daughters, Tamara J. (Rob) Montague of St. Marys and Jacalyn R. Vorhees-Owens; two sons-in-law, Derrick E. Irons Sr., of Columbus and Fred D. Owens III of Las Vegas, Nev.; 17 grandchildren, Ashley, Vincent, William, Madison, Gavin, McKenna, Marek, Anthony, Sandi (Lucas), Bo (Jackie), Derek (Tawnie), Jaron, Dia, Derrick Jr., Frederick, Kaya and Norman Jr.; eight great-grandchildren, Summer, Adalyn, Emily, Kayah, Cali, Reelyn, Anon and Jasmine; three brothers, Harold Kessen of Fayetteville, N.C., Norman (Michelle) Vorhees of Lima and David (Deb) Vorhees of Lima; two sisters, Patricia (Ron) Staley of Harrod and Ruth (Gene) Vires of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Garlene Kessen.
Mr. Vorhees attended Lima Senior High School and retired from Scot Lad Foods and Accubuilt. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a hard worker who was dedicated to his family.
A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, East Congregation, with William E. Perry officiating.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Kingdom Hall.
