Phyllis Marie Cook, 80, of 806 Laurel Drive, St. Marys, died at 11:55 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
She was born on Feb. 25, 1931, in Wexford County, Mich., the daughter of Harry and Lou (Smith) Deuel, and they preceded her in death.
She married Everett Goldsmith in 1951, and he preceded her in death; she married Dean Cook in 1977, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 2006.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark Goldsmith of St. Marys and Dick (Melanie) Goldsmith of Zanesfield; a stepson, John (Irene) Cook of Houston, Texas; a grandson, Damon Goldsmith of Zanesfield; five stepgrandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Lori Cook of Stockbridge, Ga.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Hall and Jessie Miller; a brother, Raymond Deuel; a stepson, Mike Cook.
Phyllis was a 1950 graduate of Manton Michigan High School. She had taught music for many years at the former Wilson’s Music Store in St. Marys. She enjoyed quilting with the Dorcas Society of Zion Lutheran Church. She also liked to read and grow flowers in her garden. She loved cooking with her grandson, Damon. She was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys, with the Rev. Steve Weatherly officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
