William G. Holtzhauer, 79, formerly of 1709 Kingsbury Drive, St. Marys, died on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospice in Lexington, Ky.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1931, in St. Marys, the son of Charles and Zeitha (Richards) Holtzhauer, and they preceded him in death.
On Jan. 14, 1961, he married Carol Nolan, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1995.
He is survived by his children, Charles “Chip” (Dianna) Holtzhauer of Lexington, Ky., Michelle “Mikki” (Noel) Livanos of St. Johns, Fla., Daniel Holtzhauer of Findlay; three grandchildren, Miranda Holtzhauer of Lexington, Ky., Carolyn Holtzhauer of Lexington, Ky., Cole Livanos of St. Johns, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Nancy Holtzhauer of St. Marys.
Bill was preceded in death by a brother, James “Cruiser” Holtzhauer.
He was a 1949 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean War. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, where he had been an air traffic controller in Alaska, New York, West Virginia, Hawaii and finished his career at Dayton International Airport.
He was an avid fan of St. Marys Roughrider football and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He and his son, Chip, made stained glass for many years together. He loved to listen to big band music.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
