Homer Ray Robinette, 70, of 1126 Nagel St., St. Marys, died at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Doctor’s West Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on June 2, 1941, in Williamson, W. Va., the son of Lee and Effie (Blacke) Robinette, and they preceded him in death.
He is survived by his long-time, special friend, Willia Skeens of St. Marys; two children Melissa Plokhooy of St. Marys and Ray (Stephanie) Robinette of Monticello, Ky.; two grandchildren, Shelby Elson and Wesley Robinette; four sisters, Lottie Kirk of Columbus, Maxine Noan of Carey, Ohio, Bonnie Watts of Columbus, Nella Watts of Columbus; four brothers, Jim Robinette of Sycamore, Ohio, Jeff Robinette of Williamson, W. Va., Carlos Robinette of Plain City, Ohio and Walter Robinette of Columbus; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Orville Robinette; two sisters, Wanda Robinette and Lucille Kirk; three grandsons, Dillon, Preston and Jordan Robinette.
Homer retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St. Marys after 30 years of service. He also owned and operated a lawn care service for many years.
He was a member of Eagles Lodge 767 and VFW Post 9289. He loved attending auto races at Eldora Motor Speedway and will be missed by many friends there. He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing and doing outside work.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys with the Rev. John Mobley officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be given to Gideons International.
