NEW KNOXVILLE — Girls ages 5 to 11 are invited to redo some shoes at 3 p.m. today at the New Knoxville Public Library Shoe Extravaganza. Come paint, bedazzle, draw and have fun decorating shoes. All you need to bring is a pair of shoes.

Fire On Beech Street

March 3, 2015

ST. MARYS — A fire damaged an outbuilding in the 500 block of Beech Street Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the St. Marys Fire Department received a call reporting a structure fire in an outbuilding behind 504 Beech St. Crews quickly knocked the flames down. St. Marys Fire Chief Doug Ayers told The Evening Leader no one was injured in the fire and the structure was believed to be a chicken coop.

Crash Reported

March 3, 2015

ST. MARYS — There has been a report of a crash near the ProPet overpass. A car reportedly went off the overpass and caught on fire. First responders are in the area. A portion of U.S. 33 is closed near the crash site.

Winter Weather Advisory Issued

March 2, 2015

ST. MARYS — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm advisory from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday for the region. Light freezing rain could mix with sleet early on. Light ice accumulations also are possible. Precipitation should change over to rain by noon.

Good Samaritans Make Lucky Save

ST. MARYS — A St. Marys woman who became trapped under boxes was helped by two meter readers making a service call to the residence.

On Wednesday, Shane Walter and Andy Thobe were dispatched to a residence in reference to a frozen water line.

Utility Office Supervisor Carol Lengerich said the woman rescheduled several times before settling on an early afternoon service call.

Additional Shooting Details Released

WAPAKONETA — A few more details have been released regarding a shooting Sunday morning in Wapakoneta.

In a news release, Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said that at 4 a.m. Sunday, a resident in the 600 block of South Blackhoof Street noticed a suspicious person in the north/south alley. Another resident also reported seeing a suspicious person and went out to investigate.

Trio Arrested On Drug Charges

February 26, 2015

WAPAKONETA — Three area teens have been arrested on charges of allegedly manufacturing a hallucinogenic drug.

At 9:04 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Wapakoneta Police Department arrived at 402 Ashland, Apt. E12, via an anonymous tip regarding possible drug activity. During the investigation, officers discovered  a suspected dimethyltryptamine (DMT) lab. DMT is classified as a schedule I hallucinogen.

Arrested were:

• Nathaen M. Eastman, 18, 402 Ashland, Apt. E12, on one count of illegal manufacture of drugs.
