WRESTLING: St. Marys sweeps a pair of WBL matches

CELINA — The St. Marys wrestling team swept a pair of Western Buckeye League matches at Celina High School on Thursday night to run its league record to 4-0 in dual matches.

ST. MARYS 58,  ELIDA, 19

St. Marys beat Elida, 58-19, in its first match of the night behind five pins.

St. Marys’ Garrett Hower beat Dakota Rolfe by technical fall, 16-0, at 120 pounds.

Austin Quellhorst won 126 pounds with a pin of Elida’s Garrett Bell at the 0:59 mark.

The Riders’ Chris Swanson won via technical fall at 138 pounds, 17-0, over Elida’s Christian McCarthy.

At 152 pounds, Jaden Heitkamp scored a pin over Elida’s Micah Hartman at the 1:50 mark.

St. Marys’ Luke Lemmerman won at 170 pounds with a pin over Isaac Nichols  at the 2:25 mark.

At 220 pounds, Chance Hicks won at 220 pounds  over Jordan Rothermel by pin at the 0:28 mark.

St. Marys’ Justin Nedderman (113 pounds), Dakota Knous (145 pounds), Ryan Slife (160 pounds) and Logan Simons (285 pounds) won by forfeit.

ST. MARYS 53, BATH 21

The Roughriders dominated their second league match of the night in a 53-21 win over Bath with the help of five pins.

At 106 pounds, Kaleb Chaney pinned Bath’s Stahl.

St. Marys’ Swanson won his second match of the night with a pin of Bath’s Stonehill.

Dakota Knous won at 145 pounds with a technical fall win over Bath’s McConnell, 17-2.

At 160 pounds, Slife defeated Bath’s Wise, 10-5.

St. Marys’ Lemmerman got his second pin of the night by taking down Bath’s Ebbeskotte.

At 182 pounds, Spencer Knous pinned Bath’s Rudasill.

St. Marys’ Logan Simons pinned Bath’s Neal at 285 pounds.


 Up Next

St. Marys returns to action on Saturday when they compete at Coldwater’s Sieleski Memorial Invitational. The invite was pushed back from Dec. 1 due to Coldwater’s trip to the state football championship game.

St. Marys will then travel to Marion for a two-day holiday tournament on Dec. 28-29.
