Woman Killed In Farm Accident

WAPAKONETA — Deputies and investigators with the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal farm accident Saturday east of St. Johns that claimed the life of a 56-year-old

At approximately 2:20 p.m., St. Johns Rescue Squad personnel and deputies from the sheriff’s office were dispatched to a residence east of St. Johns on U.S. 33, between the town of St. Johns and Ohio 65 in regard to a female found laying in a field and a driverless tractor still running in the field.

The 56-year-old woman was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation is continuing and the name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family. A call to the sheriff’s office resulted in no additional information being released at this time. The Allen County Coroner’s Office ordered an autopsy to be performed.
