Woman Dies From Injuries

WAPAKONETA — A 62-year-old Texas woman died Monday evening from injuries suffered earlier that day in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 75.

Lorraine Harrison, of San Antonio, Texas, died Monday evening at Lima Memorial Hospital after a semitrailer and car collided Monday on I-75 near the U.S. 33 exit in Wapakoneta, Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Commander Lt. Scott Carrico said.Two other people involved in the collision are still in the hospital as of Tuesday afternoon.

Carrico reported the driver of the Harrison vehicle, Randy Harrison, 64, is listed in critical condition at Lima Memorial Hospital, as of Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of a semitrailer involved in the accident, Suzanne (Borders) Bunn, 47, of Wawaka, Ind., was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center, in Lima, with non-life threatening injuries.

At 11:15 a.m. Monday, Bunn was driving a semitrailer east on U.S. 33 and attempted to enter the southbound lanes of I-75. Bunn lost control of the semitrailer and crossed both southbound lanes and the median crashing through the median cable barrier. The semitrailer continued into the northbound lanes where it struck the Harrisons' Lincoln MKS.

The semitrailer’s cab came to rest on its side while the trailer stayed upright. The Lincoln MKS left the roadway and entered the ditch where it caught fire. First responders extinguished the blaze prior to arrival of firefighters with the Wapakoneta Fire Department.

The Harrisons were trapped in the Lincoln and had to be extracted from the vehicle through mechanical means.

The semitrailer lost an estimated 50 gallons of diesel fuel as a result of the crash. Auglaize County Emergency Management Agency Director Troy Anderson responded to the scene. Also on the scene were Wapakoneta Fire and EMS and St. John’s Fire and EMS.
