Wolf, Ashland to play for D-II national title Friday

March 22, 2012

Delanie Wolf, a freshman Ashland forward and Minster grad, will suit up in the NCAA Division II national championship game in San Antonio on Friday night.

The Ashland Eagles beat Bentley, 77-62, in a Final Four contest at Bill Greehey Arena in front of a national cable television audience to advance to the school’s first national title game against Shaw, the winner of Wednesday night’s nightcap game in San Antonio.

Wolf did not play in the national semifinal game, but she got time in during Ashland’s Elite Eight victory earlier in the week.

Wolf played two minutes off the bench for the Eagles in their 71-51 win over Alaska-Anchorage on Tuesday night.

Wolf grabbed a rebound for Ashland in the game.

The national title game will air  at 8 p.m. and will be on national cable network CBS College Sports. The game will also be streamed  live for free on the website.

Ashland is 33-1 on the season. The Eagles lost their first game of the season and have gone 33-0 since.

Wolf has played in 22 games, averaging 6.5 minutes, 2.4 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

Wolf was a Midwest Athletic Conference player of the year while at Minster and helped lead the Wildcats to the state semifinal game as a junior.
