William J. “Bill” Koenig Jr., 92

William J. “Bill” Koenig Jr., 92, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday April 7, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.

He was born on Dec. 31, 1919, in Auglaize County, the son of William C. and Katherine (Frankenburg) Koenig, and they preceded him in death.  

On June 28, 1947, he married Lucille M. Bustetter, and she preceded him in death on July 25, 1994.

He is survived by five children, Theresa Murray of Cincinnati, Joseph (Deb) Koenig of Wapakoneta, Janice (Fred) Kohlrieser of Tipp City, Mary Lou Koenig and Charles Martin of Tipp City and Barbara (Sam) Venturella of Wapakoneta; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six siblings;  two brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by a grandson; a son-in-law; five siblings; two sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating.  Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Long & Folk Chapel of Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 13 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Douglas Koenig Memorial Fund or to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
