William “Bill” Poeppelman, 91

William “Bill” Poeppelman, 91, of Minster, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Elmwood of New Bremen.

He was born on May 7, 1923, in Minster, to the late Bernard (Ben) and Mary (Schelhaus) Poeppelman.

He married Martha A. Knostman on June 27, 1947, in Minster. She preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 2009.

He is survived by sons Mark and Teresa (Boerger) Poeppelman of Springboro; Craig and Gail (Stueve) Poeppelman of Louisville, Ky.; son-in-law Nelson Barhorst of Fort Loramie; seven grandchildren, Stacie Barhorst; Brandon (Shana) Barhorst; Kelly (Josh) Schaefer; Corrine (Dr. James) Hamilton; Allyson Poeppelman; Matt (Beth) Poeppelman and Kate (Stephen) Childs; five great-grandchildren, Kai and Lorelei Schaefer; Will Barhorst; Lincoln Hamilton and Aiden Poeppelman and caregiver Mary Jane DeLoye.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Barhorst, a sister, Laura Poeppelman, a brother, Ralph and a sister-in-law Marie Poeppelman.

He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, retired Minster Police Chief, and foreman at Autokraft Box Corp. He was also co-founder of Western Ohio Little League and served as a coach.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
