Weekend Sports Round-Up

Volleyball: Celina 3, Minster 0
MINSTER — Despite a strong start the Minster Wildcats volleyball team couldn’t handle the Celina Bulldogs as they were defeated 25-21, 25-16 and 25-10 in a non-league game at Minster. The Wildcats (4-4) travel to FT. Loramie on Monday, while the Bulldogs entertain Versailles on Tuesday.
 

Volleyball: New Knoxville 3, Botkins 0
NEW KNOXVILLE — The Rangers moved to 4-4 on the season with a three-game victory over the Trojans on Saturday, 25-11, 25-18, 25-14. Haley Horstman had three kills, 26 assists and two blocks. Paige Lehman had 10 kills, five digs and two aces. Meg Reineke had seven digs. Sam Thobe had three kills and an ace. Haley Dillon and Taylor Niemeyer each had four kills. April Cain had four kills, two blocks and three block assists.

Cross Country: Spencerville Bearcat Invitational
SPENCERVILLE — A trio of area cross country teams competed at the Spencerville Bearcat Invitational on Saturday morning.
The St. Marys boys cross country team finished fifth and the Rider girls ran 10th in the black division races.
The New Bremen boys took fourth in the boys red division race.
The Rider boys were led by Nick Durkee, who ran a personal record time of 17:35 and finished seventh overall in the boys black division race. Alex Mielke took 17th with an 18:08 time. John Meyer set a PR with a 19:05 and Ryan Tousley had a PR with a 19:07 finish.
Also running PR’s for the Roughriders were Zach Goodwin (20:36), John Beane (21:43), Will Walter (21:47), Dalton Murphy (24:16), Dylan Brown (24:23), Zach Wilson (25:19), Morgan Fenwick (27:09) and Zach Huff (29:02).
In the red division race, New Bremen’s Derek Bornhorst finished eighth overall with a 17:36 time.
New Knoxville’s Isaac Kuntz finished ninth overall in the boys race with a 17:40 time.
Brent Bertke of New Bremen took 31st with an 18:42 time, and Jared Kremer was 36th (18:53).
 

Girls Races
The Rider girls took 10th on Saturday, with freshman Hannah Tobin pacing Rider runners with a 22:05 time and a 17th place finish overall in the black race.
Marissa Schrolucke ran a PR 23:23, as did Christine Sullivan with a 23:39, Sarah Wilker (23:43) and Jessica Jeffries (24:50). Running PR’s for the Riders were Alicia Fledderjohann (26:36), Carol Saunders (26:37), Shaunna Cartwright (29:48), Lauren Hurlburt (30:49), Kristen Murphy (34:27), and Kaitlin Murphy  (37:10).  
In the red division race,  New Bremen finished eighth. Cardinal freshman Veronica Hirschfeld was 19th overall with a 21:55 time.
New Knoxville’s Clara Shroyer took 32nd with a 22:32 time.
St. Marys will be at O-G next Saturday morning.

Boys Soccer
New Knoxville  2,  Kenton 1

KENTON — The New Knoxville soccer team outshot Kenton 11-2 and picked up a win over the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.
The Rangers host Riverdale on Tuesday night.

Boys Soccer: Botkins 2, St. Marys 0
BOTKINS — The St. Marys boys soccer team lost for the first time this season, falling to 5-1 in the non-league encounter with the Trojans. St. Marys hosts Bath on Tuesday night.


Cross Country: Minster girls 3rd and boys 10th at Tiffin
TIFFIN — The Minster girls cross country team finished third at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival on Saturday in the Division III race.
Versailles won with 131 points. The Wildcats finished with 188 points.
Minster’s top finisher was Hannah Butler in 22nd with a 20:23 time. Olivia Enneking took 28th with a 20:33 pace. Gabrielle Barga took 33rd with a 20:45 time.
The Minster boys took 10th as a team in the Division III race.
The Wildcats were paced by Eric Dahlinghaus’ 23rd place finish with a 17:08 time.
Andrew Fausey took 49th with a 17:36 time.
