Boys Golf: St. Marys 164, Shawnee 180

The St. Marys boys golf team fired a 164 to improve to 7-4 on the season with a 16-shot win over Lima Shawnee on Wednesday night at Northmoor.

St. Marys' Will Paulus shot a 37 to earn medalist honors for the Roughriders.

Carter Bowman added a 39, Colin Burke carded a 43, and Austin Riggs shot a 45.

Tyler Ramden led Shawnee with a 40.

The Indians fell to 3-11 on the season.

St. Marys competes at the WBL meet today at Ottawa.

Boys Golf: Minster 157, Parkway 158

ROCKFORD — The Minster boys golf team propelled itself into Thursday’s Midwest Athletic Conference showdown with Versailles with a 157-158 win over Parkway night at Deerfield on Wednesday.

The Wildcats improved to 7-1 in the MAC and will face the Tigers, who are 8-0 in the MAC, tonight at Arrowhead.

Austin Fischer led the way for Minster on Wednesday, firing a one-under par 35 for medalist honors.

Freddie Purdy broke 40 for the second straight night with a three-over 39 for Minster.

Matt Wuebker carded a 40, Xavier Francis shot a 43, Josh Spieles and John Burke each added 46s.

Brian Shatzer led Parkway with a two-over par 38.


Girls Tennis
St. Marys 5, Defiance 0

DEFIANCE — The St. Marys girls tennis team won all five positions in a make-up match at Defiance on Wednesday night to improve to 9-4 and 7-2 in the WBL.

The Riders wrapped up its WBL schedule and are third in the WBL standings heading into next Thursday’s WBL championships.

St. Marys’ Mariah Krugh won in straight sets at first singles over Defiance’s Colleen Johns, 6-0, 6-0.

Alex Spencer defeated Cindy David, 6-1, 6-1 at second singles.

The Riders’ Katie Peterson downed Defiances’s Kristine Shannon, 6-0, 6-1, at third singles.

Allie Zimmerman and Ariel Dodson teamed up at first doubles to defeat Hannah Lamb and Natalie Castillo, 6-2, 6-0.

St. Marys’ Emily Brown and Priscilla Dodson won second doubles, 7-6 (7-3 tiebreaker), 6-3, over Abby Polce and Karen Krontz.

The Roughriders travel to Lima Central Catholic tonight for a 4:30 p.m. non-league match against the Thunderbirds.
