Wapak Man Killed In Crash

WAPAKONETA — An Auglaize County man died Saturday night from injuries suffered in a crash along County Road 33A.

According to a news release from Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a crash at 11:57 p.m. Saturday along County Road 33A, east of Bay Road.

Through their investigation, troopers determined Garret D. Rhodes, 21, 09560 County Road 33A, Wapakoneta, was driving a 1997 Chevy Camaro east when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck two utility poles. The car sustained severe, disabling damage throughout the entire vehicle.

Rhodes, who was not wearing a properly adjusted seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Auglaize County Coroner's Office.

Troopers noted alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash and the incident remains under investigation.
