Virginia L. Strader, 85

Virginia L. Strader, 85, of St. Marys, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.

She was born on Oct. 18, 1927, in St. Marys, to John and Sarah (Moser) Jacobs, and they preceded her in death.

On Aug. 25, 1956, in St. Marys, she married Joseph M. Strader, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2009.

She is survived by three brothers, Jack Jacobs of St. Marys, Forest “Bud” (Joan) Jacobs of Bloomington, Ind., and Paul Jacobs of San Bernadino, Calif.; a sister, Mary May of Richmond, Ind.; a nephew, David (Tammy) Jacobs of St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Jacobs.

She retired from Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, where she worked as a nursing assistant for 30 years.

Her favorite pastimes included walking, baking and playing bingo.

Rites are scheduled for noon Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel), St. Marys, with the Rev. Tim Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to  8 p.m. Thursday and one hour before services on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to State of the Heart Hospice.
