Virginia Ann Hoelscher, 89

Virginia Ann Hoelscher, 89, of New Knoxville, died at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1923, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of John and Rose (Burk) Pitthan.

She married Myron Hoelscher on April 13, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2003.

She is survived by her two children: Doug (Linda) Hoelscher of New Knoxville; Deborah (Ron) Wood of Sheridan, Wyoming; by six grandchildren, Michele Hoelscher, Keith Hoelscher, Erica Wood, Erin Wood, Emily Wood and Ethan Wood; by a great-grandchild, Kennedy Hoelscher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Florence Winemiller, Jeannette Fast and Dorothy Steele.

Virginia was a 1940 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta. She had formerly worked at Westinghouse Corporation in Lima and was a homemaker; she also assisted in the operation of the family farm.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville. She enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets.

Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Rev. David Williams, officiant.

Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Heritage Room of the First United Church of Christ, where memorial gifts may be given to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the Church.
