A. Rosemary Block, 77, 11374 Ohio 364, St. Marys died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at her residence. She was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Connersville, Ind., a daughter of Julius and Velma (Young) Stamm and they preceded her in death.
She was first married to Francis G. Block, and he preceded her in death July 10, 1983. She then married Homer Sparks and he survives.
She is also survived by six children, Dale (Shirley) Block of Sidney, Kenneth Block of St. Marys, William Block of St. Marys, Dennis (Liz) Block of St. Marys, Anita (Dave) Roediger of New Bremen and Richard (Veronica) Block of St. Marys; five stepchildren, Elder James (Marge) Sparks of Prestonburg, Ky., John (Tonya) Sparks of St. Marys, Jerry Sparks of St. Marys, Susan Hague of Celina and Julie (Dave) Brewer of St. Marys; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Block of St. Marys.
She was also preceded in death by a son, David Block; two sisters, Juanita Kupper and Betty Brandenburg; two brothers, Wayne Stamm and Alva Stamm; and a half-brother, Alvin Kanorr.
She was a homemaker and attended the St. Marys Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a member of American Legion Post 323 Auxiliary, VFW Post 9289 Auxiliary, Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Guild, all of St. Marys, Eagles Aerie 691 and DAV, both in Wapakoneta.
She absolutely adored her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing, camping, fishing and playing the keyboards.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the Miller Funeral Home, Ohio 703 West Chapel, St. Marys, with Elder James Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home on 703 West.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Auglaize County Council on Aging.
