Bess Lane, 70, of New Knoxville, died at 8:02 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, in the home of her father in St. Marys. She was born Oct. 4, 1937, in New Hampshire, a daughter of Clay Arnett and Dorothy May Hanger Perry. Her mother is deceased and her father survives in St. Marys.
On May 15, 1955, she married Dalton A. Lane Jr., and he survives.
She graduated from Waynesfield High School in 1955. She was a homemaker and had been a truck driver for Rising Sun Express.
She is also survived by two sons, Mike Dalton (Melissa) Lane of Botkins, and Mark Dalton Lane of Jackson Center; three daughters, Cynthia Lane Brown of Lafayette, Ind., Diane (Richard) McCafferty of Botkins and Leslie Lane of New Knoxville; a sister, Gloria (Steve) Tripplett of St. Marys; and 11 grandchildren, Mackenzie Brown, Zac Woodall, Derek Woodall, Casey Woodall, Ryden McCafferty, Jordan McCafferty, Caitlin Lane, Paige Lane, Dalton Lane, Peyton Lane and Alexis Lane.
Memorial services will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, with the Rev. Jean Horn officiating.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
