Marjorie M. Belton, 78, of Lima, died at 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2008, Dr. P. Phillips in Orlando, Fla.
She was born May 22, 1930, in Shelby County, a daughter of Earl and Leona Waterman Braun, and they preceded her in death. On Oct. 8, 1949, she married Merle E. “Red” Belton, and he survives in Lima. She is also survived by three sons, Scott (Carol) Belton of Columbus, David (Kathy) Belton of Lima, Jay (Jeannine Bok) Belton of Elida; a daughter, Beth Belton of Arlington, Va.; a brother, Ralph (Barbara) Braun of Buckeye Lake; a grandson, Jason (Josie) Belton; seven granddaughters, Kimberly (Jason) Keller, Robin (Steve) Gerhardt; Debbie (Rob) Roesk, Becky (Kelly) Plantz, Lindsay Belton, Lauren (Belton) Strauss, Emily (Belton) Strauss, Jordan Belton; seven great-grandchildren, Haley Davis, Jillian Belton, Rachel Keller, Aaron Boothby, Brady Keller, Lillia Roesky; her beloved dog, Andy; and a close friend, Miriam Adams. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathy (Jeck) Belton, and her father and mother-in-law, Porter and Myrtle (Nolan) Belton. She was a 1947 graduate of New Bremen High School. She was president of the M&M Belton Co., Inc., She was retired from the Shawnee Schools Athletic Department as an administrative assistant. she was a member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church. She was the past President and member of the American Legion Auxiliary in New Bremen. She just retired from the board of directors of the Lima Exchange Club, of which she was an active member. She was a lifetime member of the Buckeye Boosters, the Ohio State University Alumni Association, and the Go Bucks! of Allen County. She was a member of the Retired Shawnee Secretaries Group. Spending time with their family was her favorite past time. She was a very devoted wife and mother. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and local sports fan. She loved to knit and play bridge. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Shawnee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charlotte Hefner officiating. Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chiles-Laman Shawnee Chapel, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in the Shawnee Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Shawnee United Methodist Church or the Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus in honor of Rachel Keller. |
