Mariners split pair over weekend |

From Staff Reports The Grand Lake Mariners split a pair of games over the weekend to their record to 3-5 on the season.
The Mariners took a 7-4 loss to the Licking County Settlers on Sunday two days after disposing of the Columbus All-Americans 3-0 on Friday night. The Mariners scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings on Friday night while Dave Paddock tossed a five-hit shutout in the win over Columbus. Paddock struck out two and didn’t walk a batter. Tom Fogerty and Nick Urban knocked in runs for Grand Lake. Darin Mumaw, a Columbus relief pitcher from Fort Loramie and Wittenberg, threw a scoreless inning of relief for the All-Americans. Kolbrin Vitek took the loss for Columbus. On Sunday afternoon, Grand Lake starter Matt Miller was battered for six runs in 4 and 1-3 innings of work in the loss. Sam Mote had four hits and three RBIs for the Settlers. Mote plays collegiately at Wright State. |
