NEW BREMEN — Vehicles in four locals towns were damaged during a recent  vandalism spree Several vehicles in New Bremen, Minster, Fort Loramie and St. Marys sustained damage caused by a four suspects shooting a BB gun. The four male suspects consist of a 16 year old, an 18 year old, two 19 year olds and a 20 year old. They are all residents of St. Marys. Law enforcement officials in Minster and New Bremen declined to release the names of the suspects.
"We located who was doing it, and they have been questioned," New Bremen Police Chief Doug Harrod said.
The case is at the Auglaize County Prosecuting Attorney's Office as prosecutors will determine what charges will be filed.
At approximately 1 a.m. June 12, the New Bremen Police Department received a report of vehicles that had sustained damage due to vandalism. Officers discovered windows, fenders and doors of vehicles parked along Monroe, Main, First and Second streets that had been shot with a BB gun.
"At least 8 vehicles that we're aware of (were damaged)," Harrod said. "They were driving around and shooting the BB gun out the side of the window as they went by."
Harrod said it was possible even more vehicles were damaged, but the owners may not be aware of it.
"There may have been more that people have not yet reported to us, he said. "They should be checking their vehicles to see if they were shot."
Besides New Bremen, vehicles also were vandalized in the villages of Fort Loramie and Minster. Four vehicles were vandalized in St. Marys.
At 5:12 a.m. at Minster Marathon, officers with the Minster Police Department assisted the Fort Loramie Police Department with the apprehension of the four suspects regarding a complaint of vandalism at Bud's Pizza.
Bud's Pizza Owner Randy Bergman reported the window on the front door of the building has been shot out. The back window of a pick-up truck parked on Webster Street also had been shot.
"It probably happened closer to 1 (a.m.)," Minster Police Chief Randy Houseworth said.
Houseworth said they had not received any other reports of vandalism in the village.
