NEW BREMEN — The village of New Bremen released its upcoming schedule for the 2008 pool season recently. The pool is scheduled to open May 24. Season tickets for the pool will be available for purchase starting May 17 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Ticket rates for New Bremen residents are $90 for a family pass, $50 for an adult pass and $40 for a student pass. Rates for non-residents are $120 for a family pass, $80 for an adult pass and $70 for a student pass.
Rates have remained unchanged during the last several years.
The pool also is accepting applications for lifeguard and assistant manager positions.
“We only need to fill one (assistant manager),” Parks Superintendent Kim Boroff said. “Hopefully we are getting both to return, but one of them is applying for an internship and isn’t sure if they are coming back. We won’t know for a couple weeks.”
Boroff said she was unsure of how many open lifeguard positions they would have.
“We won’t have an idea until all the applications come in,” Boroff said. “Every year we use a few that are college graduates that don’t return. It’s going to be hard to judge until we get all the applications in.”
Applications for the assistant manager and lifeguard positions must be received at the Village Municipal Building by 4:30 p.m. March 14.
Returning this year to the pool will be its aqua aerobics program. The program has become popular with New Bremen residents.
“We’re just trying to promote health and fitness in our community,” Boroff said. “It’s part of our Healthy Ohioans program.”
This will be the program’s third year at the pool. The program usually runs from 9 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.
“It has been pretty popular,” Boroff said. “I think for one, it’s at night and the time works out well. There is also no charge for it.”
The instructor for the program is certified and contracted through the village.
