ST. MARYS — Hiker, bikers and walkers in the region will notice a difference in a few sections of the Miami and Erie Canal towpath trail starting this week.

James “Bulldog” Drummond, 66, of 330 North Lynn St., St. Marys, died at 5:15 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, following an extended illness. He was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Celina, a son of Willard and Marjorie Drummond. His mother, Marjorie Goodwin, is remarried and survives in St. Marys. His father preceded him in death.
On Nov. 19, 1976, he married Anna Huff Slone, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by seven children, Larry (Edna) Slone of Wapakoneta, Ronnie (Bonnie) Slone of St. Marys, Terry (Marilyn) Slone of St. Marys, Art (Jan) Slone, Jr. of St. Marys, Duane (Kathy) Drummond of Goodyear, Ariz., David “P.A.” (Tamie) Drummond of Wapakoneta, Dawn (Chad) Hennon of St. Marys; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Paula) Drummond of St. Marys; and a sister, Dorothy Daniels of St. Marys.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Richardson.
He retired from the Mersman Bros. Corporation in Celina after 30 years of service. He belonged to the First Wesleyan Church in St. Marys. He was an avid Roughrider and Ohio State Buckeye fan. He loved camping and traveling to Hocking Hills area of Ohio where he loved exploring caves with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Rd., St. Marys, with the Rev. Ron Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be directed to the family.
