REDBANK - The Punxsutawney girls' soccer team snapped a four-game losing streak, but continued its five-game winless streak after tying Redbank 0-0 Monday.
"I'm very happy with the way the girls played tonight," coach Tom Robicheau said. "Tonight was 100 minutes of effort. They didn't stop until the last whistle went."
Redbank had 22 unsuccessful shots on goal, including nine in two overtime periods, as goalkeeper Hannah Fugate held Redbank scoreless. "We're not giving them (the opponent) great looks at the net (lately)," Robicheau said. "Hannah could handle (every shot). Every time you do that, it gives you a chance to win."
Punxsy tried 15 shots on goal, but were unable to kick one in to win the game. Robicheau said that Punxsy senior Kaylan Kephart had a few breakaways, but Redbank"s goalkeeper made some nice saves. "We just couldn't put it in the net when we've had our opportunities," he said. "You can't do that against good team, you aren't going to win."
Punxsy's last win was a 3-0 victory over Clarion Oct. 3. The Lady Chucks fell to 4-12-1 on the season and will host Keystone today for Senior Night at 6:30. |
